Today, especially, I honour my husband on Veteran's Day. He served in Viet Nam as a gunner on a helicopter, in the maintenance of the airplanes and in the secret and confidential files. He sufferred one serious flashback a few years ago where he motioned combat signals to his wife to get down and take cover. After a brief hospitilization, he was fine. He does not talk much about the war but I know from the stories he has told me of his intense bravery and courage. We watch a lot of the military channel which has helped me learn so much about history and the supreme cost of war. I don't like war, but I do value our freedom and so appreciate my husband and the many others who have served our country. God Bless America and thank you for my own hero!

Veteran's Day is always a special day to this military family.
ReplyDeleteWhen I was young, growing up in England, I used to sell the poppies in school, everyone wore them on their lapels, the whole town wore them.
I am grateful to all of the heros who have served their countries, including your husband and mine. Thank you and God Bless.
Nice post Carol. I too am thankful for the service and sacrifice of so many who fight for our freedom.
ReplyDeleteAnd oh, the poppies... My Grandpa bought one for each grandchild each year. A nice memory for me also.
God Bless America
Julie
Thank you, to both of you, for your service.
ReplyDeleteThank your husband for his service. He is a hero. You also.
ReplyDeleteFrom a Veteran WAC, thank your husband for me for serving....Viet Nam was one monster of a war and the people back home never treated the soldiers kindly like they do today.
